hehe. Well you have to give Shane credit, he is pretty consistent in regards to who he sleeps with. ;)

Chapter 8 part 4 begins thusly:
Addison slipped into her black, floor-length gown with more happy anticipation than she'd had in months. Although she wasn't yet ready for her usual form-fitting evening wear--ten more pounds of baby weight to go--the flowing silk dress was an acceptable compromise. It had been far too long since she'd attended a concert, and she intended to make an impression. After one last mental check on her children--Ashlynn with Svetlana, and Jake with Myers--she walked to the recital hall alone.

Are you ready for yet another character? I hope so. :) Here's the start of chapter 8 part 5.
"Here you are, Captain." The commissary clerk handed Teague his usual Irish Breakfast tea in the largest to-go cup they offered.
"Thanks, Sydney," Teague mumbled. He sipped the hot liquid as the heavyset woman swiped his ID card. "What time is it?"
"5:04."
Teague shook his head at himself. "You think I'd be used to this shift by now."
Sydney gave him her friendly smile. "Give it another week, sir."
"I'll do that," he grinned back. "See you tomorrow." Sipping his tea, he left the nearly empty commissary and teleported. The bright white of the hallway softened to a dimly lit office with dark wood furnishings. Despite spending most of his waking hours there for the past month, the space didn't yet feel like his.

Here's the beginning of chapter 8 part 5:
"I am not wasting my time filling out any bloody forms. Now give me the bleedin' data!"
Teague looked up from Hasting's transfer form. Before the shouting started he'd thought that Kraus and Woo were bickering again. Now there was no mistaking the female speaker's British accent.
Del Rio began, "Ma'am, please--"
"I have a doctorate, thank you very much..."
Tuning out the rest of the diva's tirade, Teague looked through the blinds near his office door. An attractive woman of African descent lectured his officers with her hands on her hips. Woo, Del Rio, and Kraus stood near their stations looking like they'd rather be anywhere else. Teague didn't blame them. Dr. Gibson had briefed him on Dr. Harris'... quirks. There are so few of us, he thought as he shored up his mental shields. Shame she's such a bitch.
After donning a polite smile, Teague stepped into the outer office. "Good morning, Dr. Harris. What can I do for you?"

The sneak peek of ch 8 part 7 is the original first sentence of this scene. Sadly, said sentence is getting axed. Need to make way for more useful stuff. Anyhoo...
Bumping into herself was the most terrifying moment of Joon's life.

Hiatus is over, so we're back with more Joon goodness! Here's the beginning of ch 8 part 8.
Joon wasn’t sure of what she wanted to do with her new power over her mentor and lover. She was sure that caution was warranted. The rumor mill claimed that Shane had killed and resurrected a sparring partner in the dojo a few years ago. At the time she’d dismissed it as hyperbole, but no longer.
Part of Shane’s power lie in the little metal crystal he carried around. To have any success in manipulating Shane, she had to get the thing from him.

Oops. I've forgotten about a few of the main story sneak peeks! Here's the one for tomorrow's post (ch 8. part 13).
"--attempted break-in at 3:30 this morning. Security Captain Teague MacKenzie--"
Shane groaned and rolled over on the couch. The perky newscaster's voice wasn't helping his headache.
"--one suspect into custody," a man's Scottish-accented voice said. "We are using every tool at our disposal to track down accomplices--"
Shane barked a laugh, which also didn't help his headache. Nothing like having one of Triptych's pet psychics rooting around your head. Annoyed by the newscast, he switched the television off with a thought. Guess I fell asleep. Better than lying awake nauseous--
But he wasn't nauseous. Shane slowly sat up, keeping the comforter he'd dragged from the bedroom wrapped around him. His stomach felt fine, if empty. Not that he had an appetite.
