Ashlynn's name isn't just a pretty fancy that Addison plucked out of a baby name book. Triptych didn't pick the name, nor did Daniel. Addison pondered names, poured over baby books and deliberately picked what she felt to be the perfect name for her baby girl.

Ashlynn is a name of Irish Gaelic origin, meaning "dream."

What's the significance of such naming from a woman with premonitions and psychic dreams? Is there a meaning? Food for thought.

I had no idea that Ashlynn is Gaelic for "dream." Cool!

Speaking of Ashlynn, here's something else:

My daughter forced me to watch Barbie Thumbelina (I'm no longer chewing my nails and gibbering like a loon). There was a character named Ashlynn (the "nemesis" of the other main character who wasn't Thumbelina).

    Well, here's an image: http://eunicelo.com/images/3D/ashlyn.jpg

Preteen Ashlynn? Have the animators of the Barbie stuff been reading SLB?

That makes me wonder.. who picked character names out of the two of you?

I'm guessing Nancy chose Shane, and Vanessa chose Addison, but as for the rest?

My guess is Vanessa chose Daniel and Nancy chose Jake.

I'm going to plead Mommy Memory Loss on this one. I can't really remember who chose Jake. Daniel was my little pet, though it was Nancy who found a last name for him. (Smith, Jones and "the Ass" just didn't quite work.)

Glad its based off of the gaelic/irish form Aisling... other wise its Ashley and Lyn together which are traditionally boys names and together would mean Ash tree clearing & lake. lol sorry i really like etymology!

But dream, vision as her name? What went on during her pregnancy? We know from Daniel she ran away, wonder if it was more than just getting away from Daniel?

It's cool to Anglicize Gaelic names, if only because it makes them more easily pronounceable (and I'm half-Irish so I'm allowed to say that!).

My cousin for example is called Shivaun instead of having it spelt the ridiculous Gaelic way.
